Grant Regional Health Center is planning to honor patients in tangible ways in conjunction with National Patient Recognition Week (NPRW). It’s a week when those working in healthcare pause to reconfirm, and display, a renewed commitment to patient care, the patient's well being and satisfaction. Special activities will be held January 30 – February 3, 2012 including: Monday: kickoff refreshments from 9 a.m. - Noon in Main and Rehab Lobbies, Tuesday: Displays on Advance Directives, Lifeline, Organ/Tissue Donation, and Foundation in Main Lobby; Wednesday: popcorn 1 – 3 pm at Grant Regional Health Center; Thursday: 7 – 11 a.m. free lipid panel/blood glucose screenings (fasting recommended for more accurate test results), & Prescription Round Up 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. (all in Main Lobby); and Friday: Refreshments from 1- 3 p.m. in Main and Rehab Lobbies.
Prescription Round Up Information: Residents in Grant County will have an opportunity to dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications during the one-day “Prescription Drug Round Up” taking place at the hospital on Thursday, February 2 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please drop off items in Main Lobby. Prescription medication is a source of pollution in water systems when improperly disposed of in sinks and toilets. “Events such as these make our communities safer by keeping outdated and unwanted medications out of the wrong hands and out of our water systems,” explains Tara Wood, Director of Pharmacy at Grant Regional Health Center. All medications should be brought in their original labeled containers with patient names crossed out.
Grant Regional has renewed its long-standing commitment to providing exceptional customer service to the patients and families that they serve. “Our hospital is not only improving patient care through enhancing services and updating technology, but also by focusing on a much more personal level that allows greater comfort and attention to small details. It’s something that we’ve come to find patients truly appreciate,” says Nicole Clapp, President/CEO of Grant Regional Health Center.
“Patient loyalty and satisfaction is continually cited as a top concern among CEOs,” Clapp says. “National Patient Recognition Week presents a golden opportunity to demonstrate that patient needs go beyond the technical aspects of care to include compassion, empathy, and connection.”
Founded by healthcare author and consultant John O’Malley in 1995, National Patient Recognition Week is celebrated the first week in February and officially recognized on February 3rd.
O’Malley believes National Patient Recognition Week is a chance for healthcare professionals to refocus their commitment to patient care, consumer advocacy, and patient-inspired best-practices. “Most healthcare observances focus on healthcare personnel,” said O’Malley, “National Patient Recognition Week is a chance to honor the patients they serve.”
National Patient Recognition Week represents an opportunity for health care personnel to reflect on how their actions affect the well-being and satisfaction of the patients they serve.
