Self-care isn't Selfish - It's Essential

New Year, New YouIt’s 2018! You start the New Year with hopes and dreams and healthy intentions. Then the inevitable happens…weeks later, it is that time when your ambitious resolutions may begin to fall short and you settle back into your comfortable habits. Some of the most common intentions usually include a vow to lose weight, exercise more or take better care of yourself. Unfortunately those seem to be the hardest to stick to.

It’s important to mention that while New Year’s Resolutions can be an important spark to focusing on healthy goals, it’s really the motivation behind the resolution that matters most. For some, this motivation happens January 1st but for others it’s in the Spring when warm weather encourages people to get outside and get more active. Or for some, it’s the Fall when they perceive a time of renewal and rejuvenation. Either way at any time of year – as long as the motivation and determination are present – it’s a perfect time to focus on self-care and leading a healthier lifestyle.

Self-Care is not selfish. To the contrary, people need to realize how powerful and vital it is. We have more to give when we’re not exhausted, sleep-deprived or overwhelmed. Plus, self-care is an ongoing, daily practice, not an every-once-in-a-while splurge.

So what exactly is Self
