Dr. Rosser speaks at Excellence in Education Banquet

EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

The annual Queen B Radio Excellence In Education Party was held this past Sunday at the Holiday Garden’s Event Center In Potosi. Over 100 students, parents and guidance counselors attended, including about 35 of the top area high school students from around the tri-state area. The guest speaker was Dr. Butch Rosser, from Grant Regional Health Center, who spoke about careers in medicine. Each student attending received a free Cross pen courtesy of Queen B Radio and Doland Jewelers In Dubuque, and the students were presented with certificates bearing their names.

This year, two $250 scholarships were offered by Excellence In Education Sponsors and were given away through a drawing of the attending students. The Jim Zimmerman Scholarship sponsored by the Law Firm of McNamara, Reinicke, Vogelsberg and Helmke in Lancaster, was won by Rebecca Breuer of River Ridge High School in Wisconsin. Zimmerman was the former owner of WGLR radio in Lancaster.  Allison Siegert of Potosi High School captured the Bob Bodden Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Melby Funeral Home in Platteville. Bodden was the original owner of WSWW radio in Platteville. The Community First Bank donated a $25 gift card which was won by Declan Crego of Belmont High School.
